York County Community College has been chosen by the Maine Community College System to pilot a program to assist adult students to complete an associate  degree in one year. This program will provide financial, academic and personal support to students chosen to participate.

Two YCCC students named to All-Maine Academic Team

Fourteen Maine community college students will be named to the All-Maine Academic Team for two-year colleges at a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Senator Inn on Western Avenue.

Maine Community Colleges to Honor Scholars

AUGUSTA, ME - Fourteen Maine community college students will be named to the All-Maine Academic Team for two-year colleges at a ceremony on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at the Senator Inn in Augusta.
The event will be hosted by the Maine Community College System Board of Trustees.
 
The students receiving the award and a $500 scholarship are:

Math as Art

Math as Art

Inspired by the College's Institutional Learning Outcome for Quantitative Literacy, a small working group of YCCC administration, staff, students and faculty members came together to imagine how mathematical concepts might be shared with the YCCC community in a way that is both beautiful and engaging.  "The goal of the exhibit is to inspire our students to see math as more than an isolated technique in a classroom and to improve their comfort with the idea of math," Paula Gagnon, VP and Academic Dean said. "We are thrilled that the concept was embraced by our students."

Math surrounds us in our daily lives  This art exhibit (see more photos) is a hopeful way of transferring that concept to the viewers.  The exhibit is on display in the YCCC Library through May 2011 an
