We are thrilled to have the 2011 show at the historic State Theatre hosted by Myq Kaplan of Last Comic Standing fame. Purchase your tickets and enjoy a night of fine commercial art, good food and even better laughs!

Individual tickets, six or eight top tables available. Hour d’oeuvres are included for both, with drink service at tables only. There will be a cash bar for both.

Purchased tickets can be picked up at the Broderson’s gallery at 611 Congress Street before the show.

Google visits Maine to teach educators

LEWISTON, MAINE (NEWS CENTER) -- Google is offering teachers the chance to use some of its technology -- for free. Some educators got a lesson in how to use these new tools at a summit in Lewiston.

The education team from Google hopes to see the standard book reports evolve into something more modern. Former Maine Governor Angus King says "we've got to start doing education differently because what we're doing now isn't working and yet education is the crucial element of the 21st century." 

Fall Robotics Workshop Schedule is Set

STATEWIDE: Maine Robotics has announced it's fall workshop schedule for teachers, parents and coaches who want to get started with the LEGO(r) MindStorms Kit or who are interested in participating in the FIRST(tm) LEGO(r) League here in Maine.

The workshops are being held in 5 communities around Maine, including Falmouth, Auburn, Farmington, Bangor, and Farmingdale.  Participants will spend the day building and learning to program the LEGO(r) robots to do simple and intermediate tasks.  No previous experience or equipment is needed, all equipment is provided by Maine Robotics.

Maine Robotics is Maine's premier provider of robotics and engineering afterschool programs and works with over 1300 students and teachers each year in developing a higher degree of STEM literacy.  We welcome you to come participate at these workshops and join the hundreds of schools and thousands of children in Maine that have become engaged in science, engineering and technology

YCCC to offer Free College Course Fall 2011

 Wells- York County Community College (YCCC), and the Maine Community College System, are teaming up in an effort to assist prospective college students realize their college degree goals.

Effective immediately, any person interested in attending YCCC for the Fall 2011 semester, who has not previously registered for course(s) for Fall, is eligible for one free college course (3 credits) and fees.

Interested applicants should contact YCCC at 207-216-4440 or email freecollegecourse@yccc.edu.  Classes start September 6th.

York County Community College, established in 1994, is one of seven community colleges in the Maine Community College System.  The college enrolls over 1,600 students in associate degree and transfer programs and over 2,500 individuals in non-credit continuing education and professional development areas.
