June Maine Tweetup to Be At the Porthole on 6/23

Are you on Twitter? Have you ever wanted to meet other Maine-based people who use this popular social networking tool IN REAL LIFE!

Then come on down to the Porthole this Thursday night (6/23/2011) for the June Tweetup and put faces to avatars and names to handles. It's a great way to meet, greet and network with other locals.

The event starts at 6pm and goes until 9pm. You don't need to register, but you can on our Facebook page and check out who else has RSVP'd already.

The Porthole is located at 20 Custom House Wharf in Portland, ME. See you there!

Sweet Cheeks Diaper Company opens in York

Sweet Cheeks Diaper Company which will specialize in all natural baby products and supplies including cloth diapers, laundry products, baby accessories and skin care products has opened in York.  The business is located at 4 Market Place Drive and is owned by Karen Osper (who also owns Nautical Dog Pet Grooming in York).

The store will be will be managed by Leslie Reichert. "This is a store for Mom's and run by Mom's. Both Leslie and I are new Mom's and we were looking for a place that offered high-quality, affordable, all natural baby products for our boys.

4th Annual Maine Walk for Epilepsy

4th Annual Maine Walk for Epilepsy

Join us on May 15 in Saco at 36 Tasker St., Young Elementary School for a 2 mile walk to help support the Epilepsy Foundation.  Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the walk begins at 10:00 AM.  All proceeds raised from the walk will go into supporting the more  than 144,000 people living with epilepsy and seizure disorders in the four state area. Our mission is to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences and to work toward prevention, control and a cure for epilepsy through advocacy, education, research and support services.

Young Elementary School, 36 Tasker St. Saco, Me.

Enjoy food and entertainment after the walk.  Pets on leashes are welcomed.

YCCC to offer Saturday classes

YCCC to offer Saturday classes
YORK COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOLD SATURDAY CLASSES   WELLS-  Starting with the upcoming Fall 2011 semester, York County Community College (YCCC) will open its doors on Saturdays.  YCCC will hold weekend classes in an effort to address the continued enrollment surge the college has experienced for the past 5 years, and the need for additional class sessions that accompanies that growth.   YCCC Saturday college will offer two sessions; 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m and 12:00 p.m to 2:30 p.m. Students interested in weekend classes will be afforded an opportunity to sign up for two, consecutive classes, limiting the time on campus and perhaps childcare and/or transportation costs.

Leafless But Far From Lifeless!  Dig out your hand lens if you have one and join Dendrologist Eileen Willard for a winter stroll up Mt. Agamenticus and a close examination of trees. Eileen will offer many methods for identifying tree species by looking at bark, buds, and growth habits.
