SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Members of Maine's firefighting community said goodbye to one of their own Wednesday.

Chief George Davis died Saturday of a heart attack on his way home from a call in Hollis.

Throughout his career, Davis worked as a firefighter-EMT, a Maine State Fire Instructor and a Fire Marshal.

He was named chief of Hollis Fire and Rescue back in 2005.

His funeral was filled with members of a number of fire departments and many others in public safety, and friends and family. One of his closest friends was also a peer in the fire service, former Buxton chief, Bruce Mullen, who gave his eulogy.

Chief Davis was 62 years old.
