Barbara Moulton - 2011 6 Who Care Award Winner
News

When Barbara Moulton was just a girl, her mother Esther Linscott, a visiting nurse, saw too many elderly shut-ins without food for Thanksgiving. The Linscotts started providing holiday meals to anyone who needed them.

Fifty years later, Barbara still leads the Kittery Holiday Baskets project, providing celebratory food and gifts to approximately 150 homes. In her 70s, Barbara still handles every phone call and special request, personally ensuring the dignity and anonymity of every recipient.

Barbara shops throughout the year in anticipation of the holidays. She organizes food and toy drives at all Kittery schools and many churches. She is highly sensitive to need. A father needed a coat but wouldn't ask for it for himself; that Christmas, his family's gift basket included a new, warm coat for Dad.

Her greatest concern is, "does everyone have enough?" According to Carol Young, "Barbara holds all 'her families' in her heart all year."
