Miss Maine Wins Talent Award

On Sunday, September 15, 2013, Miss Maine, Kristin Korda, received a non-finalist talent award at the Miss America Competition during its national telecast on ABC.  Singing “Finding Wonderland” from the Broadway show, Wonderland, Kristin won the hearts of the judges as well as the audience on her way to receiving a $4000 scholarship from the Miss America Foundation.  This is in addition to the scholarships she received at the Miss Maine competition.  Kristin joins other recent Miss Maines to receive this national honor:  Elizabeth Edgecomb (2003), Ami Vice (2004), and Susie Stauble (2009).

“I'm so honored to be chosen as a non-finalist talent award winner!  The Miss America Organization has shown we aren't just a 'pageant' for girls in bathing suits.  We are diverse, passionate, intelligent and talented women-and no two of us are the same!  I will never forget the moment I sang "Finding Wonderland' on the Miss America stage.  It was so surreal--an outer body experience.  As a musician, I'm constantly practicing the 'perfect performance' -  to completely let go and live in the music.  When I walked on stage, it was as if there was nobody else in the room.  Walking off stage, I have never felt more alive.  I am truly honored and proud of this accomplishment. “  - Kristin Korda, Miss Maine 2013

Kristin was a Berklee College of Music Singer Showcase finalist and Musical Theatre Ensemble Lead Vocalist 2012 as well as Maine’s Got Talent 2009 winner.  Miss Korda wishes to pursue a degree at Berklee College of Music.
