9:00pm: HISTORICAL RE-ENACTMENT: SIGNING OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE (upstairs at the Ogunquit Baptist Church, 157 Shore Road).
Saturday, April 14, 2012
9:00am – 4:00pm: BEACH BAZAAR (at the Kennebunk Savings Bank tents on the Main Beach parking lot) Over 50 vendors will sell their wares under the tent! You may find yourself shopping beside or from one of our historical personages! Ogunquit Parks & Recreation will serve a variety of refreshments and snacks as a fundraiser for new tennis courts.
9:30am - 11:00am: COLONIAL CHILDREN’S GAMES (upstairs at the Fire Station, School Street) Play games from the colonial era, and make your own to take home and play later! Play with Jacob’s Ladder; make your own Bilbo Catcher, Button Whirligig, Thaumatrope, or Toothpick Top, then learn how they work. Weather permitting, we’ll go outside to the playground next door to play jackstraws, fox and geese, roll hoops and more.
9:30am – 11:00am: COLONIAL CHILDREN’S CRAFTS (upstairs at the Fire Station, School Street) Learn about the crafts of the colonial times. Make your own woven paper basket, and make a doll of rags or yarn. We will also make our own butter and try it on some traditional breads.
9:00am-5:00pm: OGUNQUIT MEMORIAL LIBRARY BOOK SALE (Ogunquit Memorial Library, 166 Shore Road)
9:00am-2:00pm: ABC SALE (Art, Books & Collectibles) (Ogunquit Museum of American Art, 543 Shore Road)
9:30am-3:30pm: HISTORICAL FIGURE TREASURE HUNT Collect signatures of all of our historic characters. Return your book for inspection to the Chamber table at the Beach Bazaar to be entered to win a great prize! See the list of available figures. They may be seen throughout town, but will also be available in specific locations at specific times. Historical characters courtesy of Ogunquit’s unparalleled residents.
10:00am – 3:00pm: OGUNQUIT STOCKS, FIRE TRUCK, POLICE CAR, AND MORE (Main Beach Parking Lot) Photo opportunities for the whole family! Don’t worry, the stocks don’t lock, but they will be available all weekend for photo opportunities. Another fun photo opportunity available with a life-size cut-out stand-up where you can take a photo of yourself dressed in old-time bathing suits! The kids can also climb in and on an Ogunquit fire truck and police car. Professional photographer Marina Demarco will be taking photos inside the Fire Truck from noon to 3pm.
10:00am – 4:00pm: ROAMING RAILROAD & PONY RIDES (Main Beach Parking Lot) Take a ride on the railroad as it wanders throughout the parking lot, or choose to ride a pony on a much smaller loop.

11:00am – 2:00pm: “TASTE OF THE TOWN” (Dunaway Center, 23 School Street) A large variety of over 15 area restaurants will serve up their special dishes for you to try out! $10 regular admission; $12 VIP tickets. Buy tickets at the door or ahead of time under the tent at the beach! Tickets also available until April 9 in Ogunquit.org’s online store. Offerings range from seafood mac n cheese and steak to crab rolls and foccacia to ice cream and mini-muffins.
1:30pm - 2:00pm: POETRY READING - CELEBRATING COLONIAL FEMALE POETS (downstairs at the Dunaway Center) Phyllis Wheatley was born in Africa in 1753, and at the age of seven was sold into slavery. While in bondage, she learned to read and write, and in 1773 her "Poems on Various Subjects Religious and Moral" was published in London. She died in 1784, but her poetry still resonates to readers today. Mercy Otis Warren was born into a prominent New England family; she was the sister and wife of two well-known revolutionaries. Mercy was best know for her history of the revolution, but wrote poetry as well. Her poetry reflects the concerns of the time.
2:00pm – 5:00pm: WINE & BEER TASTING (Village Food Market, 230 Main Street) Sample beers with house-made sausages, and wines with cheese and fruit.
3:00pm – 6:00pm: WINE TASTING (Perkins & Perkins Wine & Cheese Shop, 478 Main Street) Stop in and sample some great wines for the upcoming summer season.
