Spring is in the air and now is the perfect time to explore Maine’s outstanding museums. On Saturday May 19th the Ogunquit Museum of American Art will open its doors to the public part of Maine Member Day. Across Maine, you’ll be invited to see great works of art, learn about Maine’s Native American heritage, get hands-on with science for kids of all ages and so much more on May 19th – including Ogunquit’s famous art museum.
Maine Member Day is a great way to experience Maine’s cultural institutions and famous landmarks across the state. The Ogunquit Museum of American Art is opening its doors for Maine Member Day to share over 50 years of art by the sea. Visitors will enjoy the 2012 Light Motion Sound exhibit, permanent collection and sculpture gardens overlooking the ocean.
“Participating in these programs and offering a day of complimentary admission invites people to make the most of the cultural opportunities right here in Maine, whether they’re here for a vacation or exploring in their own backyards,” Ron Crusan, Executive Director, explains. “Our hope is to share the Ogunquit Museum of American Art experience and give visitors a chance to interact and learn more about us.”
Maine Member Day celebrates Maine’s cultural institutions by inviting members to access any of the following venues for free on Saturday May 19th, 2012. The Ogunquit Museum of American Art is open 10am – 5pm daily from May 1st thru October 31st and invites both the members and visitors alike to experience the museum on Maine Member Day.
