Biddeford, Rockland and York students to hear
Veterans’ stories and thank them for their service

Time Warner Cable has joined the Maine National Guard in sponsoring HISTORY™ channel’s national award-winning Take a Veteran to School Day (TAVTS) program with ceremonies at York Middle School on November 9th and Biddeford High School and Rockland Middle School on November 10th.  The events will provide Maine veterans an opportunity to educate students about their experiences and allow them to share personal stories about their service to our country. As part of the national Take a Veteran to School Day Maine veterans’ stories will be recorded for The Library of Congress’s Veterans History Project.

“We are excited to bring the Take a Veteran to School program to Maine because it not only honors veterans for their service but also educates students through the personal stories veterans share with them.” said Melinda Poore, Vice President of Government Relations for Time Warner Cable of New England.

"I am pleased Biddeford, Rockland and York students and teachers will honor our veterans and active duty military," said General John W. Libby, the Adjutant General of the Maine National Guard who will participate in the Rockland Middle School ceremony.

The public and all veterans are welcome to attend the Rockland Middle School event on November 10th beginning at 8:30 a.m. Doors for the ceremony will open at 8:00 a.m. and parking is available at the school next to the sports fields. For more information, please call Rockland Middle School at 207-596-2020.
