Referring Sites, Search Engines, Direct Traffic – How Do You Get More?

We here at Hall are big fans of Google Analytics. Why have a website and not know what it is doing? We feel the same way about all internet marketing efforts. If you are going to put your time and resources into it, you better have a plan to measure its effectiveness too.

Maine Humanities Council offers In Defense of Nature: Rachel Carson and the World Around Us

WELLS, Maine – In Defense of Nature: Rachel Carson and the World Around Us, a one-day conference presented by the Maine Humanities Council, will take place on Friday, May 6, 2011, from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm at Wells Reserve at Laudholm, Wells.

Rachel Carson, a biologist and naturalist, initially gained fame as the author of The Sea Around Us, a paean to the rhythms of the ocean and the life within it that captured the popular imagination in 1951. When a friend described the death of birds on her property after it was sprayed with pesticides, however, Carson spent years researching and writing her eloquent and decidedly confrontational work Silent Spring.

WWII Vet finally receives honors

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Almost seven decades after the end of World War II, a Maine veteran is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

George Chapman from York was a staff sergeant in World War II. His service records were lost during the war, so while his brother received his medals, Chapman never received the medals he earned. He contacted Senator Olympia Snowe for help tracking down the medals. At a ceremony this morning in the senator's Portland office, Chapman finally received those medals. He says it's been a long time coming.

"He got his in the mail," Chapman said about his brother, "and I expected of course that these would come in the mail, but like the war bonds they never showed up, until sixty-seven years later."

Amazon has just entered the cloud music business, beating Apple and Google. How does their plan work?

5G free or 20G if you buy an album from Amazon
You can buy more space at $1/G
I have about 130G on my iPod right now, or $200 for the year to host it.
Also, although there's an Android app, nothing for Apple so far

Are the record companies OK with this?

Actually, Amazon upset them by going live with out their permission. The record companies see this as an attack on their license, Amazon sees it as no different than saving your mp3s to your hard drive.
