The Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce Announces The 2011 Citizens of the Year

Russ and Lynn Osgood met and fell in love on Easter Sunday, 1990. They have been great friends and partners ever since. The couple married in the summer of 1995 in Cape Neddick at Lynn’s Grandmothers house. After a few years, Carly, now 13, came into their lives followed by Haleigh three years later (she is now 10). "The last 21 years have been the greatest," said Russ. Lynn, a mother first, works as an Educational Aid at Coastal Ridge Elementary School. Russ works for the City of Portsmouth as a Fire Fighter and also works for Eldredge Lumber and Hardware part time.

Russ and Lynn both volunteer for 4-H, Girl Scouts, school programs, church, and the fire fighters charitable association in Portsmouth. They also lend a hand to friends in need.

11-11-11: The last of its kind...

It is of course Veterans day, a day to honor and thank all who have served (and are serving). It's also a unique Internet kind of day because of the date 11-11-11. The Internet has responded to 11-11-11 in four main ways that I have seen (apart from thanking Vets).

1. Nigel Tufnel Day. From the great movie Spinal Tap, Nigel taught us that amps can go "all the way up to 11"!

2. Binary Day. This is the top binary day because of the number 1. Since 1911, there have been 36 binary days, and today is the last one for 88 years.
